Less Rainfall in September, Groundwater Levels Show Decline

The District ended the month of September 2018 with considerably lower rainfall than in the previous 3 months, and as a result water levels in the Floridan Aquifer in most of the District have declined compared to August levels. The end-of-month survey of 120 wells in the District network found that water level had declined in 83 wells (69%).

This marks a change in the trend we have been observing of rising groundwater level in most parts of the District that began in April of this year. Despite this, 30% of the wells in the District network remain above the 90th percentile.

See the attached image for areas where wells have shown declines in groundwater levels due to a decrease in rainfall.
