SRWMD District Lands Closed Due To Hurricane Irma

LIVE OAK, FLA., Sept. 6, 2017 – Beginning September 7, 2017 at 5:00 p.m., all Suwannee River Water Management District (District) lands will be closed due to inclement weather from Hurricane Irma. Sites will remain closed until further notice.

The District has signed an emergency order initiating emergency operations in response to an executive order released by Governor Rick Scott on September 4, 2017 due to weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irma. The order grants the District authority to execute land and office closures, open water control structures, assist local governments with storm preparation and administer other emergency duties. A copy of the signed order can be found here.

The District will continue to provide updates through web notices and social media postings.

The mission of the Suwannee River Water Management District is to protect and manage water resources using science-based solutions to support natural systems and the needs of the public. The District holds true to the belief of water for nature, water for people. Headquartered in Live Oak, Florida, the District serves 15 surrounding north-central Florida counties.
