Water Conservation Month
Water Conservation Month - April A_water_droplet_splash.jpg

2018 marks the 20-year anniversary since April was first recognized as Water Conservation Month in the State of Florida.

April is the last month of Florida's dry season, and there has historically been higher water demand in April which could be a result of increased irrigation caused by rising temperatures.

Designating April as Water Conservation Month provides an opportunity to increase public awareness about the importance of water conservation and following the District's year-round water conservation measures. It also encourages citizens to develop life-long conservation habits that will help preserve and protect our local water resources now and in the future.

Water Conservation Proclamations

Every year, the Suwannee River Water Management District's Governing Board adopts a proclamation declaring the month of April as Water Conservation Month.

The proclamation calls upon local governments, residents, business, and visitors to protect our precious water resources by practicing and promoting water conservation measures both indoors and outdoors.

The District invites all local governments within the region to join us in promoting water conservation by adopting a similar proclamations.
