Location and Access

The Mud Swamp tract is located in northeastern Alachua County and southeastern Bradford County.

Access to the Mud Swamp tract from Alachua:
Travel northeast on SR 235, turn left on CR 231, turn right on NW 218th Avenue; travel 2.5 miles; at the 90° turn, the tract is on the left.

 

Access from Brooker:
Travel east on CR 18, turn right on CR 231; travel 2.75 miles and the tract is on the right.

 

Description

Mud Swamp is primarily floodplain swamp with some wet flat woods on the edges and upland pine forest in the uplands.

 

Wildlife species include deer, wild hog, turkey, and squirrel.

 

Recreational Activities

The Mud Swamp tract is a primitive recreation site.

 

Allowable uses are wildlife viewing, bicycling, hiking, and horseback riding on administrative roads.
