This sale is a 250-acre marked second thinning of 33-year-old planted slash pine. The loading ramps, skid trails, and take rows from the 2009 first thinning are to be used where possible for this harvest. All trees marked with blue paint at eye level are to remain standing and unharmed. All unmarked trees are to be harvested. The timber sale includes two different harvest objective areas as shown on the map. Area 1 is 198 acres leaving 40-50 square feet of basal area per acre. Area 2 is 52 acres leaving 8 trees per acre for natural regeneration research. Logging debris is to be scattered back through the stand. The District Project Manager will routinely assess the timber harvest to ensure the objectives are being met.
