LIVE OAK, FLA., AUGUST 27, 2025 – In an effort to highlight the beauty and significance of the natural resources of our District, the Suwannee River Water Management District (District) is now accepting submissions for its annual photography competition. Winning photos will be featured in the upcoming 2026 District calendar.
The District invites photographers of all skill levels to capture the spirit of our District-owned lands and help us spotlight the need for their conservation and protection. In addition to showing off the beauty of our region, the District calendar also highlights District initiatives and other water management activities.
“We were pleased with the response we saw last year to our photography competition and our first-ever District calendar,” said Hugh Thomas, executive director of the District. “This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to see some of the most beautiful locations across the District while also learning about our goals, missions, and efforts to protect these amazing resources.”
Photo submittals must be received by 11:59 p.m. on September 20 to be considered. Submissions will be judged by a panel of District employees during the month of October.
Thirteen photos will be selected – a cover photo and 12 monthly photos. Photographers whose photos are chosen will receive credit for their work, receive copies of the calendar, and be recognized for their efforts on District social media platforms.
Winners will be announced by the end of October.
