A final public meeting to present the new digital flood insurance rate maps (DFIRMs) for Suwannee County (including Live Oak and Branford) will be held on Tuesday, September 25. The new maps will become effective on September 28, 2007.
The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at City Hall, on U.S. 90 in Live Oak.
Insurance agents, lending institutions, surveyors, engineers, and real estate agents are urged to attend this important final meeting. Suwannee River Water Management District staff and consultants will begin with a presentation, followed by a time for questions/answers.
The presentation will include an overview of the map modernization program, a review of DFIRM changes, and a look at flood-hazard area changes from the old maps to the new ones.
The flood map revisions have been underway for two years, as part of a Federal Emergency Management Agency project to update flood insurance rate maps nationwide.
