The Suwannee River Water Management District (District) will hold a hearing to allow for public comment concerning its proposed 2010 Florida Forever Work Plan Update. The hearing will be held during the District’s December 8 Governing Board meeting at 9 a.m. at Bronson Town Hall, 650 Oak Street, Bronson.
The updated work plan presents projects eligible for funding under the Florida Forever Act and reports on progress and changes made since the initial plan. Under the work plan, the District acquires and manages lands for flood control, water quality protection and natural resource conservation. The plan also promotes restoration projects, in which the environment is restored to its natural state.
Most of the District’s lands are available for public use for recreational opportunities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and horseback riding.
The Governing Board is scheduled to approve the work plan in January.
